MILLENNIAL PAINTING

About 11:00 pm on December 31, 1999, I went into my studio intent on painting something I previously had in mind. When I got there, I was caught up in the oneness and harmony of the world's celebration of the third millennium. I was especially moved by the tribute to the sunrise. I picked up the materials I felt fitting at the time: my watercolors and a thin veil of cotton fabric and painted through the night. Then I went outside to honor the sun's rising. The following paintings are from a work in progress series on the Survivor: women who have faced loss, war, and devastation in their lives.

Paintings above are 3' x 4', watercolor on fabric
Below are sketches - pencil on paper, approximately 11" x 14"
